Jim Davis, founder of “Tidy Tombstones,” will speak about his work with Historical Societies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to restore historic cemeteries and to repair gravestones dating back to the 1700’s. In the course of his work he has become an expert on cemeteries and how gravestones have been viewed by different cultures at different times.
His talk will be part of the Moorestown Historical Society’s New Jersey History Speaks Lecture Series.

Tidy Tombstones: One Man’s Mission to Restore Historic Cemeteries

You may have watched the launch of Artemis II on television, but there was far more happening behind the scenes. Our guest speaker, Mark Cavanaugh, will be joining us directly from Houston, and will share an inside look at the mission and the work that made it possible. Docent led mansion tours begin at 6:00 PM. Lecture starts at 7:00 PM Light refreshments will be available during the event. Admission is free, though donations are gratefully accepted and directly support the ongoing restoration of the Historic Shipman Mansion. Recent restoration efforts have included a full exterior repainting and significant wood‑repair work, and community contributions help sustain these improvements.
