As we continue celebrating America’s 250th birthday year, we invite you to check out a local, historical gem! Formed in 1887 and situated on the banks of the Delaware River, the Red Dragon Canoe Club is one of America’s oldest continually operating boating clubs. Our physical home, the Shipman Mansion, was built around 1869 as the home of Paul and Alice Shipman. It is listed on the New Jersey and federal Registers of Historic Places. Join us at our Open House on Sunday, August 23rd from 2 to 5 pm. Take a guided tour of the mansion and learn about its role in American history. Weather permitting, set sail with one of our volunteers or try out a kayak from our loaner fleet. Kids, big and small, can channel their inner Ben Franklin and fly kites on our beautiful grounds. Enjoy lite refreshments and learn how you can become part of our community of sailors, paddlers and social members!
