Acappella For Autism Returns To Moorestown April 13
All proceeds from the A Capella competition at Moorestown High School benefit Autism New Jersey.
MOORESTOWN, NJ - The Moorestown High School Interact Club will host its seventh annual A Cappella for Autism competition on Saturday, April 13, 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Seven area high schools will compete in the competition, with all proceeds benefiting Autism New Jersey. Autism New Jersey is the largest statewide nonprofit network of parents and professionals dedicated to improving lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Over the last six years, the event has raised over $20,000 for Autism New Jersey.
Participating groups are chosen in two levels, according to Anjali Akula, one of the event’s senior chairs.

“Initially, we reach out to local high school and college groups and get responses based on interest,” Akula said. “When we have over 7-8 high school groups, the committee uses audition videos to decide who will be in the show.”
The competing high school groups perform a variety of contemporary ACapella music. This year’s groups include:

- Madrigals - Moorestown High School
- GFS A Cappella - Germantown Friends School
- Edgertones- Hun School of Princeton
- The Cat’s Meow- Princeton High School
- Rebel Yell - Howell High School
- Reverb - Howell High School
- Rebellation - Howell High School
The event will also feature a special performance from the collegiate A Capella groups, Drexel Cleftomaniacs, Temple OwlCappella and Pace Frequency A Capella. Tickets are on sale for $10 at showtix4u.com by searching “ACAPPELLA.”
