Crime Down in Moorestown in Early 2016

Year-over-year stats show some changes in newly released report.

Moorestown, NJ -- Despite six reported burglaries in January, the number of overall burglaries -and crime- was down from the first three months of 2015 to the first two months of this year in Moorestown.

According to the Uniform Crime Report, compiled by the New Jersey State Police, burglaries were down 25 percent, from eight to six, year over year.

Forcible entries and unlawful entries were each down by one incident. Forcible entries were down from five to four (20 percent) and unlawful entries were down from three to two (33.3 percent).

Overall, crime was down 69 percent.

Larceny theft was down 70.1 percent, from 67 incidents last year to 20 this year.

There was one motor vehicle theft this year, compared to two last year, and there were no firearm incidents or assaults involving guns.
