Democrats Win Assembly Seats, Republicans Win Freeholder Seats in Burlington County

Moorestown had no contested races in Tuesday's elections.

Democratic incumbents held on to both General Assembly seats in the Seventh Legislative District during Tuesday night’s election.

Herb Conaway and Troy Singleton defeated Republican challengers Bill Conley and Rob Prisco in unofficial results posted online.

Conaway had 31 percent of the vote and Singleton won 30 percent of the vote. Conley won 20 percent and Prisco garnered 19 percent of the vote.

The district covers parts of Burlington County, including Moorestown.

The Burlington County Freeholders race went in a different direction, as Republicans Ryan Peters and Kate Gibbs unseated Democratic incumbents Aimee Belgard and Joanne Schwartz, according to unofficial results posted on the county’s website late Tuesday night.

Gibbs earned 27,812 votes, and Peters won 27,707 votes. Belgard won 26,565 votes and Schwartz won 26,180 votes. There were 97 write-in votes, and provisional ballots had yet to be tallied. They were tentatively scheduled to be counted on Monday.

In Moorestown, there were no municipal elections.

Three candidates ran unopposed for three open seats on the Board of Education, including Board Vice President David Weinstein and Board Member Brandon Pugh, and challenger J. Harry Faunce.

Weinstein drew 1,593 votes; Pugh garnered 1,575 votes; and Faunce saw 1,503 voters come out.

Board Member Sheryl Sawin chose not to run for re-election.
