MEDFORD, NJ —Dylan, the dog who made area headlines when he became trapped and subsequently rescued from a Medford drain pipe, appears well on his way to making a full recovery, his caregiver told Patch.

Last time Patch was shown a picture of Dylan, he had casts on his paws. We were told the staff at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital was working to bring down the dog's 104-degree fever, administering pain medications and an IV, cleaning his wounds, performing X-rays and treating a bloodstream infection.

A picture of Dylan taken Wednesday (which is featured in this story) shows that although Dylan looks tired, his casts are gone.

Shellinda Fisher-Hardie, Dylan's caregiver and founder of Jericho's Wish Animal Rescue, told Patch on Thursday "he's doing so good."

The Paypal and Vimeo accounts that were set up to cover Dylan's medical bills raised almost $4,600, according to Fisher-Hardie.

Those donations will sufficiently cover Dylan's medical expenses, she said. Thus, she will donate the rest to Southern New Jersey Humane Tracking & Trapping and the Taunton Fire Company, she said.

"This whole thing restored my faith in humanity," Fisher-Hardie wrote on the Facebook page of her organization. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
