Newcomers Win Seats On Moorestown BOE; Dems Seize New Seats

The results are in for this year's elections in Moorestown.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — There will be three new members sworn into the Moorestown Public School District's Board of Education in January, according to unofficial results from Tuesday night's elections.

Lauren Romano, Jack Fairchild and Tinamarie Nicolo-Dorfner won three open, three-year seats in the five-person race, according to the results posted by the Burlington County Clerk. Incumbent Peter Palko failed in his re-election bid. Kameron K. Rabenou also ran in the general elections.

Mark Villanueva ran unopposed for the seat he was appointed to on July 20. The seat was vacated by Kathy Goldenberg, who left the board earlier this year to serve on the State Board of Education. There were 22 write-in votes for the special election.

Romano won nearly 26 percent of the vote, followed by Fairchild with 21 percent of the vote and Nicolo-Dofner, who had almost 18 percent of the vote. Rabenou had 17.71 percent, and Palko netted 17.05 percent of the vote. There were 44 write-in votes.

There were no races for Moorestown Council this year.

There was an upset in the Burlington County Freeholders race, as incumbents Bruce Garganio and Linda Hughes, both Republicans, lost a close race to Democrats Tom Pullion and Balvir Singh. Pullion was the top vote-getter with 61,031 votes, followed by Singh with 57,801 votes. Garganio pulled in 55,492 votes and Hughes won 55,349 votes.

Democratic Assemblyman Troy Singleton captured the State Senate Seat that belonged to Republican Diane Allen, who is retiring in January. Allen served in the State Senate since 1998. Singleton defeated Republican John Browne to win the seat.

Herb Conaway won re-election to the General Assembly. His running mate Carol Murphy captured the seat Singleton vacated when he decided to run for State Senate. They defeated Republicans Octavia Scott and Bob Thibault.

Results remain unofficial until certified.
