Board Members Sandra Alberti and Dimitri Schneiberg, both appointed in June to fill the unexpired terms of Albert Panzarella and Harry Faunce, also filed their petitions to run for re-election in November.

Panzarella's seat was up for election in November, but Faunce had served on the board for less than a year. They resigned for separate reasons.

Board Member Matt Simeone didn’t file a petition to run for re-election.

Christian Cramer and Maurice "Mick" Weeks, III are also running for the three open, three-year seats.

Thus, Goldenberg, Alberti, Schneiberg, Cramer and Weeks are running for the seats that Goldenberg, Simeone and Panzarella were elected to three years ago.

Since Faunce had two years left on his term, a special election must be held in November to fill the rest of his term.

Schneiberg and Weeks also filed petitions to run in that election, so their names will appear on the ballot twice, in separate elections.

The deadline to file to run in the Nov. 8 school board elections was Monday afternoon.

Friday, July 29, is the deadline to challenge a candidate’s petition.
