UPDATE: Who Were the Big Primary Day Winners in Moorestown?

Moorestown, NJ -- On the same night Hillary Clinton appeared to clinch the Democratic nomination in this year's presidential election, a pair of Democratic Party-backed candidates turned away challenges in their own county primary races on Tuesday.

Reva Foster defeated Margaret Schwelkert and Michael Miller to win the party's nomination in November's Board of Chosen Freeholders race, the Burlington County Times reports.

Foster will face Tiver Latham, who ran unopposed in the Republican Primary, in November's election.

Sander Friedman defeated Jeffrey Epstein in the Democratic Primary for County Surrogate, according to the report.

Friedman will face Mary Ann O'Brien, who ran unopposed in the Republican Primary, in November's election.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Frederick Lavergne defeated Jim Keady in the Democratic nomination for the Third Congressional District seat.

The Burlington County Democratic Party had endorsed LaVergne for the seat, while the Ocean County Democratic Party endorsed Keady in the rare inter-county race.

LaVergne will once again challenge U.S. Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-3), ran unopposed in the Republican Primary, in November. LaVergne ran an independent campaign in 2014, when MacArthur originally won the seat.

Locally, the stage was already set for November’s council elections, as each party has three candidates running unopposed for three open Moorestown Council seats.

Mayor Phil Garwood, Deputy Mayor Victoria Napolitano and candidate Mike Locatell are running on the Republican ticket.

Councilwoman Lisa Petriello and candidates Kati Angelini and Amy Leis are running on the Democrats’ slate.
