Doane’s Dungeon may be the only Haunted House in the world that mixes Edgar Allen Poe’s Tell Tale Heart with Psycho.
For decades, the student actors of Doane Academy have led tours through the classrooms and depths of the 175 year-old school and performed scenes from the pages of literature and the occasional horror movie. This year’s scenes include Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Fall of the House of Usher.
Several hundred people attend Doane’s Dungeon each year from all over Burlington and Bucks County. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and are sold at the door. Hot chocolate and apple cider are complimentary with other baked concessions available for purchase.
