Iain’s career began in the ‘60’s as one of the founding members of British folk-rock legends Fairport Convention. He sang on the first several Fairport albums, before leaving to front his own group: Matthews Southern Comfort.
MSC’s version of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock” was a hit in the U.S. and reached #1 on the charts in Matthews’ native U.K. Matthews numerous solo albums over the last 4 decades include collaborations with artists such as Mike Nesmith, Richard Thompson, Elliot Murphy and others. Matthews latest release, 2012’s “In the Now”, is a
collaboration with Dutch jazz pianist Egbert Derix. The album is out now on the legendary jazz label Verve Records. Expect to hear songs from the new album as well as interesting arrangements of songs from throughout
Matthews’ career. Recommended for fans of Nanci Griffith, Richard Thompson, Nick Drake, Crosby Stills & Nash, Jules Shear…
