The Moorestown Service Club Council, which is comprised of the Y Service Club, the Lion’s Club and Rotary Clubs, will present the 2012 Citizen of the Year award to Douglas Sell at the 59th Annual Citizen of the Year Dinner on Wednesday, February 1 at The Merion in Cinnaminson. Tickets for the event, which benefits local charities, are still available.

Sell was unanimously chosen by the Service Club Council for his years of service to a number of local organizations, including the First United Methodist Church’s Adult Choir and Mission Committee, the Moorestown School Board, the United Way of Burlington County, the Burlington County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Moorestown’s Low and Moderate Income Housing Committee.

Currently, Sell serves as treasurer of the board of directors for the Interfaith Hospitality Network. An active member of the Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club since 1984, he has previously served as president and treasurer. Sell is also a founder and advisory board member for Urban Boatworks, which teaches inner-city Camden youth the craft of wooden boat building as a means to develop skills and values.
