Field Hockey Team Nearly Unblemished/Soccer Teams Split With Cinnaminson: The Week in Moorestown High School Sports

The Moorestown High School field hockey team scored 11 goals in the first week of the season, and is undefeated, according to scores posted on nj.com. Only a 5-5 tie with Shawnee keeps the Quakers’ record completely unblemished.
Meanwhile, the boys and girls soccer teams split with Cinnaminson on Thursday.

Field Hockey
Moorestown 6, Delran 0, Sept. 11: Five players scored in the season-opening win for Moorestown, led by Grace Kuszmaul with two goals and an assist. Delaney Lawler, Erin McIlhenny, Avery Powell and Roxy Vassighi all scored a goal in the win. Powell and Vassighi also had an assist apiece. Goalie Katie Stefano made four saves as three goalies saw action. Logan Donahue and Lauren Pickul each had two saves.

Moorestown 5, Shawnee 5, Sept 15: Neither team held a solid lead, as the score was tied at 2-2 at halftime en route to the 5-5 tie. Madison Sever and Delaney Lawler each had two goals for the Quakers. Avery Powell rounded out the scoring. Goalie Katie Stefano made eight saves, as did Shawnee goalie Elizabeth Ennis. Erica Solomen had three goals for Shawnee.
Girls Soccer
Kingsway 4, Moorestown 2, Sept. 11: Genie Santarpio scored both of Moorestown’s goals in the loss, both in the second half. Carly Blessing made 10 saves in goal for the Quakers. Kingsway had a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Moorestown 3, Williamstown 2, Sept. 12: Moorestown jumped out to an early lead it never relinquished as it bounced back from an opening day loss. Quinn Nicolai found the back of the net twice for Moorestown. Maggie Brown had the other goal. Carly Blessing had six saves in goal. Moorestown held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Moorestown 3, Cinnaminson 2, Sept. 17: Moorestown scored twice in the first half and held on for the win. Maggie Brown, Quinn Nicolai and Natalie Youre each scored in the win. Jamie McHugh and Miranda Sackner scored for Cinnaminson, which saw both its goals come in the second half.
Boys Soccer
Burlington Township 3, Moorestown 0, Sept. 11: Rotimi Adewumi had two goals for Burlington Township in the win. Jacob Beebe had the other, as all three goals came in the second half.
Northern Burlington 3, Moorestown 0, Sept. 15: Kyle Adams scored twice and Brett Meyer had a goal for Northern Burlington in the win.
Cinnaminson 3, Moorestown 0, Sept. 17: Cinnaminson scored all three goals in the second half to pick up the win. Goals came from Dan Kern, Pat McCarthy and Mike Reid. Goalie Mike Deal made nine saves in the win. Moorestown goalie Noah Alfonso also had nine saves.
