Final 2020 Moorestown Election Results Expected This Week
It is unclear how many ballots are outstanding in the races for 3 open council and school board seats, but results are expected this week.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Results in the races for three open seats on both council and the board of education in Moorestown are expected by the end of the week, according to a Burlington County spokesman.
As of Wednesday night, the Board of Elections had counted 10,272 provisional ballots countywide. When added to the 251,624 mail-in-ballots that have been counted, 261,896 total votes have been counted in Burlington County.
However, the number of outstanding ballots was unknown as of Thursday morning, according to spokesman David Levinsky. The Board of Elections expects to finish counting by the end of the week, he said. Patch will continue to update the results until they become official.

The count remains close in the race for three open seats on Moorestown Council, with the Democrats maintaining the lead. Sue Mammarella leads the way with 7,114 votes, according to the unofficial results. Dave Zipin was second with 7,011, followed by Jake VanDyken with 6,824 votes.
Vick Bobadilla trails VanDyken by 278 votes. He leads Republicans with 6,546, followed by Doug Maute with 6,346 and Barbara Omert with 6,313 votes.

Lauren Romano is still the top vote-getter in the race for three open seats on the Moorestown Public School District Board of Education. She has 6,995 votes, followed by Mick Weeks with 6,941 and Jack Fairchild with 5,157.
Sarah Rivera has 4,722, followed by Julie Woodrow with 4,150 and Val Gallagher with 3,484.
Now for the fun part.
Richard Sexton got two write-in votes among council candidates, the most among the 14 write-ins. Real people got write-in votes, such as Rudy C. Jones and The Sheriff. But so did Scrappy Doo and The Mystery Machine. No Scooby, but maybe it was Scooby who simply wrote “me” on the ballot. The world may never know.
There were more than 100 “people” who received write-in votes in the Board of Education race. This included current board members Mark Villanueva and Mark Snyder; former Board Member Brandon Pugh; council candidates Zipin and Van Dyken; and former Congressman Ron Paul.
Godzilla and Mothra brought their never-ending battle to this school board race, each getting one vote. Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick also got some love, as did Mr. Doo (Scooby?)
And while he remains a long shot, Kanye West received a vote in the school board race. His victory seems unlikely, but we remind you there are still some provisional ballots to be counted, and anything is possible in the world of politics.
