Food Drive Coming To Moorestown. Here Are Some Specific Items Needed.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The First Baptist Church of Moorestown will hold a food drive this Saturday to replenish its food pantry's shelves, organizers said.

Roughly 3 percent of Moorestown residents live in poverty, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The need for donations is at the highest level in the First Baptist Church of Moorestown food pantry's decade-long history, added Linda Pepe, a reverend at the church.

"With prices rising and schools being out for the summer, the [First Baptist Church of Moorestown] Food Pantry needs your help more than ever," she told Patch.

Donations of the following items would be particularly helpful, organizers said:

  • Shelf-stable milk, dry cereal, pancake mix and syrup
  • Canned chicken, canned tuna, Spam, Vienna sausage, canned sardines, canned salmon, peanut butter and Colby Jack cheese sticks
  • Pasta, sauce, Chicken Helper, Tuna Helper, rice and canned pasta
  • Canned or jarred fruit or applesauce
  • Soap, deodorant, toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, diapers and female hygiene products

These items, and other non-perishable items, will be collected from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the parking lot at the First Baptist Church of Moorestown on West Main Street, Pepe said.

"I'm deeply humbled to witness the passion and dedication it takes to keep the pantry going and growing," she said.
