Former MoonDog Grill Owners To Launch New Eatery By Moorestown

The popular hot dog destination closed last year in Moorestown Mall. But Ira and Bernadette Guttman have a new venture planned.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The owners of MoonDog Grill — a popular hot dog destination in Moorestown Mall before its recent closure — have a new venture.

Ira and Bernadette Guttman plan to launch Take 5 Cafe in Mount Laurel. The Guttman's have operated multiple local eateries — Cool Dog Cafe, which shuttered in 2015, and MoonDog Grill, which closed Dec. 31.

Cool Dog Cafe operated in Cherry Hill for five years. In 2015, owners Ira Guttman and Shawn Harwood shuttered the business to pursue different dreams. Harwood began working with Starr Restaurants in Philadelphia, while Ira Guttman opened MoonDog Grill.

The latter became a popular spot in the mall for seven years before closing.

"Today's environment has made it very difficult for many small businesses to keep up and we decided it was just time," the business said on social media.

But that won't be the Guttmans' final act.

Take 5 will offer coffee and tea selections, along with smoothies, energy concoctions, Italian sodas and frozen specialties, according to the Township of Mount Laurel. The café will also serve pastries and chocolate delights, such as truffles and chocolate pretzels. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available.

An opening date hasn't been announced.

Take 5 will open on 3131 Route 38, Mount Laurel.
