Former Moorestown Middle School Teacher Dies At Age 88
Marie Alice Smith (née Lau), 88, of Moorestown, NJ died on Sunday, September 2, in her home surrounded by her children.

Marie Alice Smith (née Lau), 88, of Moorestown, NJ died on Sunday, September 2, at 9:56 p.m. in her home surrounded by her children after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Jersey City, NJ on October 31, 1929, Marie graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY. She began her teaching career in Jersey City and later taught at William B. Allen Middle School in Moorestown.
She was predeceased by her husband James B. Smith in 2004. Marie is survived by her children, Frederic (Maria) Smith of Long Valley, NJ, Judith (Eric) Hale of Lewes, DE, Louise (Louis) Febrizio of West Sayville, NY, Theresa (Michael) Hardy of Audubon, NJ, Helen Smith of Moorestown, NJ, and Thomas (Angela) Smith of Wilmington, DE, and by her 18 grandchildren, Meghan (Michael), Laura (Jonathan), Mark, John, Luke, Shea, Cara, Amanda, Daniel, Brett, Lynn, Faith, Kyle, Jasmine, Elijah, Owen, Maeve, and Rhian, and by her brother Francis Lau.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday evening, and from 9 a.m.-10a.m. on Monday morning at Lewis Funeral Home, 78 East Main Street, Moorestown, NJ. Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 West Main Street, Moorestown. Burial at General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ, will be private.
Visitors are urged to bring items handmade by Marie to the services in recognition of her creative ministry to others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eternal Word Television Network 5817 Leeds Road, Irondale, Alabama 35210.
