Former Wawa CEO to Discuss Leadership at Moorestown Friends School

Howard Stoeckel, the current Vice Chairman of the Wawa Board of Directors, will visit the school Nov. 25.

Former Wawa President and CEO Howard Stoeckel will visit Moorestown Friends School on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Stoeckel, who was President and CEO for eight years, will speak to Upper School students in the “Leadership: Style and Skills” course about his experience leading Wawa.

The course is designed to introduce students to leadership theory and practice, with a special focus on how Quaker beliefs inform and influence what sort of leaders the students will become.

The course includes skill-building in making persuasive presentations, engagement in consensus-building activities, and collaboration on team management exercises.

Students will prepare for Stoeckel’s visit by reading his book The Wawa Way: How a Funny Name and Six Core Values Revolutionized Convenience.

The book addresses he servant leadership style, which prioritizes encouraging and supporting employees to unfold their full potential.

Stoeckel, the current Vice Chairman of the Wawa Board of Directors, will also meet with senior Economics students in a roundtable discussion.

He also previously served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Vice President of Human Resources. Stoeckel has been associated with Wawa for almost 30 years.
