Free Admission Sites Added To Burlington County Museum Program: See Where

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — The Burlington County Library System added more options to its free Museum Pass Program for cardholders this year.

The initiative now gives residents access to more than three dozen museums, zoos, and historic sites in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The Newark Museum of Art and the Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Philadelphia bring the total options to 38.

David Levinsky, spokesperson for Burlington County, told Patch that they try to look for sites that are geographically reachable in a day trip.

Other sites that are part of the program include the Academy of Natural Sciences, Please Touch Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Eastern State Penitentiary.

Cardholders can reserve tags online and at the libraries for up to 45 days ahead.

There are limits on how many people can go to a certain location on the same day, but no limit on how many total times a cardholder can go to a location.

A list of participating sites can be found on the Burlington County website.

In 2025, museum tags were checked out 3,629 times, a record-high dating back to the first year of the initiative in 2012.

"Usage of the program has grown as the library system adds additional locations," Levinsky said. "It helps increase use by expanding to new audiences."

The program is funded by the Burlington County Library System and the organizations affiliated with the nonprofit "Friends of the Burlington County Library System."

The County said they are also working on additional opportunities in Delaware, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
