Gill St. Bernards Edges Moorestown Friends for Tennis Title

The Moorestown Friends girls' tennis team's run for a championship came to an end in dramatic fashion on Monday.
Top-seeded Moorestown Friends dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 2 Gill St. Bernards in the South Jersey Non-Public B final, according to nj.com.
Both of Moorestown Friends' doubles teams picked up wins. Erin Chen and Paige Hurley defeated Kendall Dunn and Jacqueline Fuentes, 6-4, 6-1. Lilla Butterworth and Alexandra Katsnelson pulled out a three-set victory over Lucy Dunn and Carolyn Najarian, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
First singles player Grace Kim dropped a three-set decision to Krishna Patel, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Second singles player Jessica Ferber fell to Sharon Jin, 6-2, 6-4. Third singles player Katie Teitelbaum dropped a decision to Stephanie Fuentes, 7-5, 6-3.
Moorestown Friends, this year's Burlington County champion, fell to 13-3. Up until Monday, Moorestown Friends hadn't given up a set in the playoffs, defeating St. Rose and Ranney by identical 5-0 scores.
Gill St. Bernards improved to 11-3 and advances to the state final.
