MEDFORD, NJ — A goat found wandering around Medford last week was returned to its owner, a member of the township's police department said.

About eight days ago, a "concerned citizen" notified police that there was a goat near the intersection of State Route 70 and Chairville Road, Lieutenant James D’Averso said in an email to Patch on Friday.

The goat, which seemed a bit older than the one in the picture that accompanies this story, was taken to the police station, he said. The real goat's picture was posted on social media, he said.

A short time later, "a resident recognized the animal which led to the safe return of the goat to its owner" in Southampton, D'Averso.

Chances are the parties involved will have a great story to share with the "kids" in their life someday, if they have not shared it already.
