Good Samaritan Hit By Truck, Seriously Hurt In South Jersey

The Good Samaritan along with the person they were trying to help were both airlifted to a hospital after the crash.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A good samaritan was one of two people hurt in a crash near Exit 4 of the New Jersey Turnpike early this morning, New Jersey State Police said.

At about 12:15 a.m., a Volkswagen headed north collided with a BMW, according to police. The crash left the Volkswagen in the center lane without working headlights, according to police.

A driver of a third vehicle pulled into the shoulder and got out of their vehicle to offer assistance to Volkswagen's driver, police said.

A tractor-trailer that was also heading north on the Turnpike then struck the Volkswagen, which then struck the good samaritan and the Volkswagen's driver, according to police.

The good samaritan and Volkswagen driver were seriously hurt and flown to area hospitals, according to police. Their medical conditions were not known as of Friday at noon, police said.
