Learn About Moorestown's History During Free Lecture At The Library

Michael DeCamillo will host a lecture titled "New Jersey's Multiple Municipal Madness on Jan. 18, 2017.

Moorestown, NJ -- Anyone who has ever wondered about the history of Moorestown can learn all about it during an event at the Moorestown Library next month.

Michael DeCamillo, Vice-President of the Historical Society of Moorestown, will host a lecture titled “New Jersey's Multiple Municipal Madness” on Jan. 18, 2017, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

New Jersey has 566 municipalities. In contrast, California has 482. During this lecture, DeCamillo will discuss how New Jersey divided itself again and again to accommodate a variety of differences among the state’s neighbors.

Included in the discussion will be the case of Chester Township, which was sliced and diced to form Riverside, Riverton, Palmyra, Delran, Maple Shade, Cinnaminson, and Moorestown. Historic maps will be on display.

This program is a part of the New Jersey History Speaks Lecture Series co-sponsored by the Historical Society of Moorestown and the Moorestown Library.
