Lee Lieber To Be Sworn In As Moorestown Police Chief At Monday's Council Meeting

Lieber has been the acting chief for the last year.

Moorestown, NJ -- Lee Lieber will be sworn in as police chief during Monday night’s council meeting at town hall, the Moorestown Sun reports.

Lieber has been with the department since 1978, was the department’s first K9 handler and was named the county’s Emergency Management Director in 2008, according to the report.

Last year, Lieber was named the Acting Police Chief last year, when council unanimously voted to change the position of police director to police chief.

The change was made because a police chief is permitted to carry a gun and drive a police car with the lights on, while the position of police director is a civilian position.

At the time, Township Manager Scott Carew said the township would follow the necessary civil service guidelines to name a permanent chief.

The police chief’s salary is set at between $110,000 and $165,000. The longevity cap is set at $8,580.

Council meets on Monday night, Dec. 12, at town hall. A workshop session takes place at 7 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.
