Letter To The Editor: Democratic Women Have Public's Best Interests At Heart In Presidential, Moorestown Races

To the Editor:

On Election Day, I will vote for Hillary Clinton and for all three Democratic candidates for Moorestown Council: Lisa Petriello, Amy Leis, and Kati Angelini.

I will not vote for them because they’re women or because they’re Democrats. I will vote for them because I believe they are the leaders we need to help us navigate through hard times.

I trust they will best represent our interests, work to achieve realistic goals, protect the values we cherish, and institute policies that will benefit the community as a whole.

Locally, we need to improve our infrastructure and have water that is safe to drink. We owe that much to all our residents, foremost to our pregnant moms, our young children, our elderly, and our chronically ill residents with compromised immune systems.

I also believe that we should aim for a community that is more inclusive, a community that welcomes low-income families.

Nationwide, Hillary Clinton is the only qualified presidential candidate on the ballot. Donald Trump is by far the worst. He is a serious threat to our national and international interests. He is a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, unprincipled self-centered demagogue who is no more a Republican than a Democrat. He lies glibly and has no respect for our Constitution, let alone for the people of this country. He welcomes the intrusion of the Russian government in our national election. To top it all, he is, by his own boastful admission, a sexual predator.

Trump’s business acumen, which many believe to be his strong suit, is nothing but a deceitful illusion. In reality, Trump is a bankruptcy “genius” and a con artist who has stiffed vendors and milked the system to avoid paying taxes. Is this the President who would make America great again?

In this highly contested election, not voting for President or voting for someone who has no chance to win would be a vote for Trump. This is something our country and the world cannot afford.
