Lifelong Moorestown Resident Who Fought In Korean War Dies

John L. Wilmot, also known as " Jack," a lifelong resident of Moorestown, NJ passed away on December 5, 2017, at the age of 86.

John L. Wilmot, also known as “ Jack,” a lifelong resident of Moorestown, NJ passed away on December 5, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born to Claire Haines Wilmot and John L. Wilmot on April 13, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA. Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Jean H. Wilmot. Jack graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Moorestown High School and Gettysburg College.

From the age of 14, Jack dreamed of flying. He fulfilled his dream by becoming a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force and served at the end of the Korean War. In early 1963, Jack was hired by TWA, doing what he loved, flying until his retirement in 1992. Jack was an avid reader, had a passion for travel, loved sports, and enjoyed spending time with family, especially watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Stella, daughter, Claire W. Kraft and her husband, Canning, of Alexandria, VA and son, Stephen J. Wilmot and his wife, Dene, of Hilton Head Island, SC and his grandchildren, Courtney Perry (Chris), C.K. Kraft, III, Charlie Wilmot and Ashley Wilmot.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown, NJ. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305 (apdaparkinson.org) or Our Lady of Good Counsel, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
