Lourdes Appoints Medical Director of Radiation Oncology

Dr. Shaikh is accepting new patients at his office located on the campus of Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County

Radiation oncologist Talha Shaikh, MD, MBA, was recently appointed the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County.

Dr. Shaikh comes to Lourdes from working in private practice in New York City.

Dr. Shaikh completed his residency in radiation oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he served as chief resident and as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee. He completed his internship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA.

Dr. Shaikh earned his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. He earned his Master of Business of Administration degree at Temple University’s Fox School of Business. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Monmouth University, where he graduated with honors.

Board-certified in radiation oncology, Dr. Shaikh has expertise in the use of 3D-conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).

Dr. Shaikh has presented his research at several national and international conferences. He has also authored numerous book chapters and his research has been published in several high impact peer reviewed journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, European Urology, International Journal of Radiation Oncology. Biology. Physics, and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Shaikh has won multiple awards for his work, including the American Society for Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation Merit Award.

Dr. Shaikh is a member of the American Brachytherapy Society, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, Radiological Society of North America, American Radium Society, and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
