MFS Student Earns Yale Award For Community Engagement
Moorestown Friends School student Calvin Bell is one of 15 students nationwide recognized with the distinction.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - A junior at Moorestown Friends School is one of 15 students named a winner in the third annual Yale Bassett Awards for Community Engagement, the school announced. Calvin Bell, of Pennsauken, is the only winner from New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Delaware.
He was among 1,200 U.S. high school juniors, representing 49 states, who submitted applications. He will receive a certificate, a book selected by the faculty of the Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration, and an invitation to a reception on Yale’s campus in New Haven, Connecticut this fall.
By establishing this award, the faculty of Yale’sCenter for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration sought to honor emerging leaders who, like Ebenezer Bassett (1833-1908), distinguished themselves through a record of creative leadership, public service, academic distinction, interdisciplinary problem solving, and experience addressing societal issues.
