Moorestown Breakfast Rotary Club, Boy Scouts Clean Up Jeff Young Park

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Rotary Breakfast Club is teaming up with the Moorestown Recreation Department as caretakers of Jeff Young Memorial Park, and the Rotary Club is already tackling the job. On Saturday, over 50 members of the Rotary Club worked with Boy Scout Troop 44 to clean up the park. They brought their shovels, rakes and sweat to weed, trim, mulch and clean up trash at the park.

Jeff Young Park is located at the corner of New Albany and Lenola roads, and offers a variety of amenities. The 9-acre park is named for Sgt. Jeffrey Young, USMC, who was killed in the terrorist bombing of The United States Marine barracks in Beiruit, Lebanon on Oct. 23,1983. Sgt. Young was a Moorestown resident and his parents, Jack and Judy Young continue to care for the park.

The park has two softball fields and up to three soccer fields. The lighted basketball court and the three tennis courts are filled daily. There is a recreation center with meeting rooms and restroom facilities. Port-A-Pots are on site, but there are no bathrooms during winter.

The Rotary Club will also sponsor the Jeff Young Scholarship Award, given to a graduating Moorestown High School student.

The Rotary Breakfast meetings are held every Wednesday morning, 7:15 a.m. at the Moorestown Community House, 16 East Main Street. Guests are welcome to arrive 15 minutes early and have a cup of coffee to socialize.
