MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Council will consider the acquisition of 307 Harper Drive as it attempts to move forward with its affordable housing plans when it meets Monday night via teleconference.

In November, council approved the re-zoning of 307 Harper Drive to allow for the construction of a 76-unit complex that includes 75 affordable units.

The 3.12 acre site will include a mix of townhouses and multiple dwellings on three acres of land. In December, council approved the purchase of the property so construction can begin.

However, in order to ensure there is adequate space for the construction on Harper Drive, the township has entered into a contract to acquire an additional 0.56 acres of land near the site, on Route 38.

It also acquired a 60-foot wide strip of Lot 4 adjacent to the boundary between Lots 3 and 4. In March, the planning board approved the township’s application for a minor subdivision to permit a lot line adjustment of the boundaries between Lots 3 and 4.

Council must now amend the ordinance to show it will also be acquiring the 60-foot strip. That amendment is what will be considered Monday night.

Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday night. Due to the abbreviated agenda, this meeting will be held via teleconference only (no in-person attendance).

All members of the public can attend and participate in the meeting by teleconference just the same as if in-person. The mayor will open the floor for public participation in accordance with normal protocol.

To join the teleconference, dial 1 201-523-5900 and then enter Conference ID: 686 491 538 followed by the # sign. The meeting will not be broadcast via live stream on the internet; after the meeting, an audio recording will be posted on the township’s webpage.
