Moorestown Council To Discuss Housing Impact On Schools, Budget
Moorestown Council will meet on Monday night at town hall, 111 West Second Street.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — There will be four public hearings and final votes on proposed pieces of legislation when Moorestown Council meets Monday night at town hall, 111 West Second Street. The workshop portion of the meeting begins at 7 p.m., followed by the official action meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Two proposals concern changes to township code that covers alarms and fire protection and prevention. Those changes are noted in the proposed ordinances scheduled for introduction and can be seen here and here.
Another proposal concerns changes to water and sewer rates, which can be seen here. The final proposal sets forth changes in salary for certain part-time employees. Those changes can be seen here.

There will also be two proposed ordinances on introduction. The first concerns changes to the portion of township code governing parks and recreational facilities. Those changes can be seen here.
The final proposal calls for the renaming of Water Works Woods to Kay Smith’s Water Works Woods. Smith made immense contributions to this piece of land and the overall well-being of the township’s environment, according to the proposal posted on the township’s website.

The workshop portion of the meeting will include a discussion on the impact of affordable housing developments on the township’s schools and a brief discussion on the proposed budget.
A discussion on a non-consent agenda resolution to ask the planning board to determine whether the Moorestown Mall should be deemed an area in need of rehabilitation is listed on the agenda. However, Mayor Nicole Gillespie said earlier this week that discussion was being put on hold.
