Moorestown Council To Give Final Consideration To Public Works Salary Ordinance Monday Night

Council will also consider the costs for 3 additional filtration units for the temporary treatments at the North Church Street Water Plant.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Council will give final consideration to a proposed ordinance that sets salaries and compensation for certain Public Works employees who are represented by the Public Works Supervisory Employees (PWS) when it meets on Monday night, Nov. 28, 7 p.m. at town hall.

The group isn’t a union, but it represented nine people when the previous contract expired in 2012, according to Chief Financial Officer Tom Merchel.

There was a lot of confusion about representation within the group, making it difficult for the township to negotiate with the group, according to Merchel. However, there are only two Moorestown employees still represented by the group, and the township has been able to reach a deal with the group.

The agreement, in effect through Dec. 31, 2018, makes use of a step system. Annual Salary increases for the existing PWS members is as follows, according to the proposed ordinance posted on the township website:
