Moorestown Council to Host First Budget Workshop Monday Night

The workshop is set for 6 p.m. at town hall.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Council will hold its first budget workshop of 2016 on Monday night, Feb. 8, 6 p.m. at town hall.

Last year’s budget included a 2 percent tax rate increase.

The increase included a 1 percent increase in the library budget, which is mandated by the state. The library tax is based on the town’s total valuation. As the valuation goes up, the library tax increases.

The other 1 percent was the municipal increase. That increase was due to an increase of $203,000 in budget appropriations and a $233,000 decrease in revenues.
