Moorestown Creates Announces Winners of 2nd Annual Upcycle Challenge
Art students were asked to use plastic shopping bags as a creative medium
MOORESTOWN, NJ — The results are in for Moorestown Creates’ second annual Upcycle Challenge. Moorestown Creates was formed to connect, support and showcase the arts community in Moorestown, and coordinates a variety of arts events throughout the year.
In 2016, the committee launched its Upcycle Art Challenge to show how items normally thrown in the trash can be repurposed into amazing art, and to build awareness about recycling. Last year, plastic bottle caps was the medium; this year, high school art students in Moorestown were asked to create artwork out of plastic shopping bags.
We accepted entries from individuals and group, and the breadth of imagination shown in all the entries was very impressive. Many of the entries will be on display at Moorestown Public Library this summer. Winners of the Moorestown Creates 2017 Upcycle Challenge are:
