Moorestown Dog Park To Open Sunday
The $370,000 dog park was funded in part by a $180,000 grant from the county.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — About a year after it was approved, a dog park will open in Moorestown this weekend. The grand opening of the Swede Run Dog Park is set for Sunday, Sept. 10, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., according to township officials. The grand opening will be held rain or shine.
Last year, council unanimously approved an ordinance to build the dog park. The $370,000 dog park was funded in part by a $180,000 grant from the county. The township received the grant in 2015, after efforts to build the park a few years earlier stalled.
The park is divided in half by a three-rail wooden fence. An acre and a half of the park is set aside for large dogs, while an acre is reserved for small dogs. There is also a pavilion building with a shaded picnic area.

As part of the project, a formal asphalt parking lot was installed, as well as a pedestrian entrance to the park off Westfield Road. There are also water fountains for both people and dogs, trash cans, a pet waste station and an interpretive sign that explains the history of the park.
