MOORESTOWN, NJ — A Moorestown High School student has raised nearly $4,000 for essential workers who are on the front lines of the battle against the coronavirus.

The “Signs for Service: Virtua COVID-19 Relief Fund” has raised more than $3,800 toward its $4,000 goal as of Friday morning.

Freshman Keyan Vojdani launched the fundraiser to show appreciation for first responders, medical professionals, essentials workers and others who risk their lives in battling the coronavirus.

The money will go to the Virtua Health's Coronavirus Emergency Fund, Vojdani said. Anyone who donates $20 or more will receive a lawn sign to thank these brave heroes, he said. Each sign costs $7.64, with the rest of each donation going to the emergency fund.

“Virtua Health is the largest health care/medical provider in South Jersey,” Vojdani said. “Virtua Health's Coronavirus Emergency Fund will help obtain and respond to the need for critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical equipment, expand their telemedicine capabilities to provide virtual care to patients safely and securely, provide fresh, healthy food to increasing numbers of patients and families in need through its Food Access program.

"The lawn sign in 18 (height) x 24 (width). I designed the sign myself and you find an image of what it would look like below. By displaying these 'Thank You' signs in front of houses, businesses, and other areas, we can show our appreciation in such times."

They can be picked up, or delivered to senior citizens and anyone else who is unable to pick one up. They can be delivered to Moorestown, Marlton, Mt. Laurel, Maple Shade, Riverton, Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Medford or anywhere that is approximately within 15 minutes of Moorestown.

"This effort was in part inspired by Liam Marshall of New Jersey," Vojdani said. "All of us are in this together."
