Moorestown Friends School Boys Tennis Team Wins South Jersey Title

Moorestown Friends was set to play for a state title on Wednesday.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Friends School boys tennis team captured its 14th sectional championship on Tuesday. Moorestown Friends defeated Rutgers Prep, 5-0, to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Non-Public B title at the Moorestown Tennis Club. The team did not lose an individual match during its run to the championship, the school said on Wednesday.

Results, provided by the school, are as follows:

  • Andrew Lin def. Ikbal Ahluwalla, 6-0, 6-1;
  • Liam Schenk def. Nikhil Lahiri, 6-0, 6-1;
  • Dylan Carilli def. Zac Osman, 6-0, 6-2;
  • Hunter Harris and Jordan White def. Kurosh Keyvan and Sean Lau 6-2, 6-4; and
  • Ivo Iovanovitch and Andrew Landesman def. Pratik Reddy and Neel Patel, 6-2, 6-3.

Moorestown Friends fell to Newark Academy, 4-1, in the state championship match at Mercer County Park on Wednesday afternoon, according to nj.com. The boys tennis team is seeking its third state championship, having previously won titles in 1977 and 1978.

Coach Kathleen Tuck's team was the No. 1 seed in this year’s South Jersey tournament. It defeated No. 8 Holy Spirit, 5-0, and No. 5 Wardlaw-Hartridge, 5-0, en route to the final. Rutgers Prep was the No. 2 seed. To view the full bracket, visit nj.com.
