Cleanup Efforts In Moorestown, Other Burlington Co. Towns Get Financial Boost

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown was one of the many municipalities around Burlington County and the state of New Jersey that will split roughly $21.4 million in Clean Communities grant funding, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

"The [department is] thrilled that we are able to distribute additional grant funds this year to help communities improve their local environments and improve quality of life by removing litter, including from roadways and around stormwater collection systems," said New Jersey Department of Protection (DEP) Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette.

Moorestown's share of the lump sum amount, rounded to the nearest dollar, is about $49,852, DEP said.

"These community-level efforts have far-reaching impacts across the state, from beautifying neighborhoods to improving water quality and enhancing wildlife habitats," LaTourette said.

Other ways the funds can be used include litter enforcement, graffiti removal, street sweeping, curbside leaf pickups and more, according to the DEP.
