Moorestown's 4th-annual celebration of the holiday takes place this weekend. Here's what to expect.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Juneteenth events will take place throughout New Jersey in the coming days, including Moorestown's fourth-annual celebration.
Moorestown's Juneteenth Celebration runs from 2-7 p.m. Saturday at the Perkins Center for the Arts on 395 Kings Hwy. (The holiday itself falls on Monday, June 19.)
Juneteenth commemorates the date in 1865, when word reached the last enslaved people in Texas that the Civil War had ended and they were free. Celebrations date back to 1866, but Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021.
