MOORESTOWN, NJ — Here’s a look at some upcoming events at the Moorestown Library for the week of Aug. 12-16. Each event’s description comes from the library’s website. Click the name of each event for more information.

Monday, Aug. 12
Baby Time, 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.: No registration required. For children under 2 with a caregiver. Siblings welcome. Drop in each week for 30 minutes of stories, rhymes, and songs for babies!

Time for Twos, 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: No registration required. For children who are 2 years old, with a caregiver. Siblings are welcome. Drop in each week for 30 minutes of stories, rhymes, and songs for 2-year-olds!

Moorestown Knit and Crochet 2Together, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Research has shown that knitting and crocheting can promote wellness for mind and body by

  • Improving mood – rhythmic and repetitive action of knitting and crocheting elicit the relaxation response
  • Improving memory and decreasing risk of cognitive impairment
  • Improving math skills
  • Keeping fingers and hands nimble
  • Building community by sharing tips and techniques

History Mosaic with Jean Perry continues …, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Join a history discussion group, led by Jean Perry, where each attendee brings some information to share with the group about the subject. Women in the Neighborhood – we have been fortunate to have had many accomplished women who have lived in Burlington County. Patience Lovell Wright, Margaret Hill Morris, Elizabeth White, Alice Paul are just a few. Do you know them? Are there other Burlington County women you want to share with the group? REGISTER NOW!

Tuesday, Aug. 13
Let’s Play Mah Jongg!, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: This lively game is lots of fun and challenging. Those with experience are preferred. Come join in at the library with leader Betsy Schnorr. If you have a game, please bring it. REGISTER NOW!

Qi Jong With Master Kim, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Learn about practicing Qi Gong from Master Kim, owner of National Karate Institute in Moorestown. When you enroll in Qi Gong classes, you will calm your mind, speed healing, reduce stress, and prevent illness. Your body, mind, and spirit will be integrated with simple movements and methods that are easy, enjoyable, and beneficial. The effects are both immediate and long term. Master Kim has been teaching karate and Qi Gong for over 20 years. He and his family have been practicing martial arts and Qi Gong for many generations. REGISTER NOW!

Wednesday, Aug. 14
Watercolor Basics, 10 a.m. to noon: Come learn the basics of successful watercolor painting. You will learn which supplies are best, how to handle the brushes properly, how to keep your colors clean and transparent and lots more. Taught by local artist Schuyler McClain. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any supplies that you may already have. REGISTER NOW!

Thursday, Aug. 15
Drop-In Story Time, 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.: No registration required. For children ages 3-6. Drop in to enjoy stories, songs and crafts! Choose one session per week.

Meditation Circle With Alex Dys-Dragos, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.: By popular demand, our meditation classes will continue. Join Alex to meditate, learn, share experiences, and deepen practice. All are welcome. REGISTER NOW!
