Moorestown Library Offers Coding Lessons In August

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Library hosts several coding classes in August to help residents learn how to program, block code, and take your computer skills to the next level. Participants will solve programming puzzles and design their own games, ranging from Flappy Bird to Moana to Minecraft. They will also learn the basics of website development using HTML.

Each session will run from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. with new activities each day. No previous coding experience is needed. Each session includes a choice of two activities. The schedule is as follows, with the date followed by each choice activity:

For rising second to fourth graders:

• Aug. 7: Moana: Wayfinding With Code; Minecraft Hour of Code
• Aug. 8: Make Your Own Flappy Bird Game; Code Combat (adventure through Kithgard Dungeon)
• Aug. 9: Star Wars: Building A Galaxy With Code; Write Your First Computer Program (featuring Angry Birds, Plants vs. Zombies, and more)
• Aug. 10: Code With Anna and Elsa; Dragon Dash

For rising fifth to seventh graders:

• Aug. 14: Learn How To Code With Karel The Robot; Code Combat (adventure through Kithgard Dungeon)
• Aug. 15: Code Commander; Disney Infiniti Play Lab
• Aug. 16: Debugger (Coding Adventure To Save Motherboard); Build Crazy Apps With Bitbox
• Aug 17 (Website Development Day): Character Building (Code Your Own Pixel Character With HTML, CSS, Javascript); Create Your Own Website With HTML
• Aug 18 (Website Development Day): Character Building (Code Your Own Pixel Character With HTML, CSS, Javascript); Create Your Own Website With HTML

Register for individual sessions or for the whole week by calling 856-234-0333. Space is limited and registration is required. The Moorestown Library is located at 111 West Second Street, adjacent to Town Hall.
