Moorestown Patch Letter to the Editor: Attack on Democratic Candidates Over Relay for Life Was Shameful
Kati Angelini defends herself and her fellow candidates over Kathy Sutherland's critical letter that appeared on Moorestown Patch on Monday.

To the Editor:
I am writing in response to a letter written by Kathy Sutherland which appeared in yesterday’s Moorestown Patch attacking myself and my running mates for town council regarding the Relay For Life Event.
Shame on her for taking such a wonderful and memorable event like Relay For Life Moorestown and turning it into a political issue. I normally don’t comment on such things, but after losing my father to cancer less than two years ago, she clearly hit a nerve.

Petriello, Leis and Angelini were indeed in attendance at Relay for Life the minute the event started. We donated money, spread the word on social media, did a survivor’s walk in memory of my father and graciously thanked all the volunteers for their tireless efforts in putting together such a worthwhile event.
In fact, as an act of good faith, we even asked Vinny Napolitano, the Republican candidates' campaign manager if we could help unload items out of his car to set up his camp.

This event was a chance to remember our loved ones who had passed of cancer. My father passed of kidney cancer and that is one of the main reasons I got involved in running for town council.
Once I found out that our current water supply has cancer causing agents in it and could bring an increased cancer risk to Moorestown residents, I stepped up and made it my duty to fight for contaminant free water, Ms. Sutherland.
Just in case you are fact checking, we left that event early and went to a few more charitable events that evening. So sorry to have missed you and my condolences for your loss.
Please, do not make this about the Democrats not staying for photo opportunities—it’s truly shameful Kathy.
