Edwin Begg writes that Congress and the President need to focus on working for the people.

To the Editor:

I’m depressed. We’ve had an election, and I thought the entire Federal government would finally start working for its citizens. Wrong.

For the past few years, Congress has been dysfunctional (vote no, shut the government down) and continues to be.

Congressman MacArthur announced that he will not hold Town Halls during the President’s Day weeklong recess. He stated that Town Halls are being “hijacked.” A real profile in courage.

By the way, Moorestown Council meets publicly twice a month and, while not always in agreement, gets along with its constituents.

And then there is the executive branch of our government. There are pressing issues like national security, Russian influence, economy, taxes, budget, foreign affairs, health, environment and others. What do we get? Chaos, tumult, lies, erratic behavior, and clueless and reckless action.

After a one-month reign, President Trump just had his first 2020 campaign rally, which makes us wonder whether he is working for us or for himself. Mr. President, forget 2020, work on 2017.

What to do? Suggestions? Anyone?
