Moorestown Republicans Endorse Kate Gibbs For Congress

A group of prominent Moorestown Republican leaders have voiced their support for Kate Gibbs as she pursues a seat in Congress.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A group of prominent Moorestown Republican leaders have voiced their support for former Burlington County Freeholder Kate Gibbs as she pursues a seat in Congress. They said they are joining the members of the Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee in their endorsement.

“Kate has always been someone we could count on to deliver results for her constituents,” the group said in a letter issued this week. “Thanks to her leadership on the Burlington County Freeholder Board, Moorestown received grant funding for cleaning up Strawbridge Lake, building our town's first dog park, and improving security in our Moorestown schools; she endorsed the efforts of our then Republican Council majority to the federal government, helping secure a nearly $1M grant for improvements to the Lenola business district of our town; and she delivered tax cuts and infrastructure improvements to all of Burlington County.”

Gibbs is running against David Richter, who left the Second Congressional District to pursue the Republican nomination in the Third District. Former Hainesport Mayor Anthony Porto and Barnegat Mayor John Novak are also pursuing the nomination.

“When the blue wave crashed in 2018, Kate was the only Republican on the ballot to still carry Moorestown,” the group said. “That year, she ran approximately 11,000 votes ahead of former Congressman Tom MacArthur in Burlington County in a race that the Congressman only lost by about 3,500 votes. Kate is tough, intelligent, and is a proven leader. Her experience and deep-rooted history in this district will make her an exceptional Congresswoman for the people of Burlington and Ocean counties. We are proud to stand with her in the Republican primary in June and into the November election.”

The following Republicans signed the letter:
  • Vinny Napolitano, Moorestown Republican Municipal Chairman;
  • Jamie Boren, Moorestown Republican Club President;
  • Victoria Napolitano, Councilwoman & former Mayor;
  • Mike Locatell, Councilman;
  • Stacey Jordan, former Mayor & Burlington County Freeholder;
  • Manny Delgado, former Mayor;
  • Phil Garwood, former Mayor; and
  • Chris Chiacchio, former Mayor.

The deadline to file petitions to run in the primaries is March 30, while the deadline for third-party candidates to file petitions to run in the general election is June 2.
