Moorestown Resident Named President of Temple Alumni Association

Scott F. Cooper is an attorney at Blank Rome and the Vice President of the Moorestown Soccer Club.

A Moorestown resident has been elected President of the Temple University Alumni Association (“TUAA”) and a member of the Temple University’s Board of Trustees.

Scott F. Cooper, chair of Blank Rome’s Labor & Employment group and former Chancellor/President of the Philadelphia Bar Association, began his term on July 1.

Cooper will lead the Executive Committee and the TUAA Board, which is comprised of 54 members representing all of Temple’s 17 schools. TUAA represents 285,000 living alumni in 50 states and more than 143 countries.

“I am honored and excited to serve the Temple University Alumni Association as its President,” Cooper said in a release issued Wednesday morning. “Temple is a very special place for me. With so much going on at the University, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to this great institution in this capacity. I, along with my fellow officers and board members, are looking forward to growing our existing programming and membership. We will implement a number of new initiatives, including a comprehensive strategic plan, and enhanced communications and outreach to members both inside and outside of the Philadelphia region.”

Cooper earned his JD from Temple University School of Law and has been an active member of the Temple University community for more than 20 years.

While at Temple, he was the first student to serve as Managing Editor of the Law Review, be a member of the Moot Court Honor Society (National Champion in Constitutional Law), a starting member of the National Trial Team (Runner-up in the National Championships), and graduate with honors. 

He also was a participant in the Honors Judicial Clinical Program, where he worked for the then Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Dolores Sloviter. 

Following his graduation, he was a judicial clerk for Judge Herbert J. Hutton in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

He's practiced law at Blank Rome since 1993. He's also an adjunct professor at Temple Law School.

As an attorney, he focuses on litigation and business counseling. He represents large publicly traded corporations, start-ups, partnerships, and government entities.

He's been recognized by Chambers USA as a leader in labor and employment law.  He has repeatedly received the highest ratings for professional skills and ethics from Martindale-Hubbell.

In 2010, he served as President/Chancellor of the 13,500-member Philadelphia Bar Association.  He was a member of the American Bar Association’s National Conference of Bar Presidents (“NCBP”) Executive Council, and chaired the NCBP Communications Committee. He is also active in political and local matters.

He is also a licensed volunteer youth soccer coach and Vice President of the Moorestown Soccer Club. He plays competitive soccer in two adult leagues.

He is married and has a daughter and a son.
