Moorestown Residents Help Lead St. Joe's Prep to Pennsylvania State Football Title

Thomas Johnson and James Johnson led the football team to their second straight PIAA Class AAAA state championship title this year.

A pair of Moorestown residents and St. Charles Borromeo School graduates are excelling as star athletes at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia.

Thomas Johnson (Class of 2011) and James Johnson (Class of 2013) led the football team to their second straight PIAA Class AAAA state championship title in Hershey, PA. this year.

Thomas, who also led the team to their first PIAA Class AAAA state championship title in school’s history, missed the first four games of the season battling an injury but he fought and came back to carry the team to a 9-game winning streak into the state championship game in December.

Thomas is a two year captain of both the football team and the wrestling team, and he was inducted into the National Honor Society.

He was also recently voted 2014 Philadelphia Catholic League Class AAAA 1st Team. Thomas has committed to playing football at Princeton University next year.
