Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club Launches Uganda Project
Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club's Kawempe Sewing Project is up and running in Uganda with a class of 14 trainees.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club's Kawempe Sewing Project is up and running in Uganda with a class of 14 trainees that includes two young men, the club said this week.
The tailoring skills they learn in the 10-week workshop will help these patients of Kawempe Home Care (most of whom suffer from AIDS/HIV) provide food, clothing and school fees for their families.
The items they produce, such as diaper bags, book bags and laptop bags, will be sold in local, regional and international markets. The tailors will be paid a fixed price for each item they create.
