Police Chief In Moorestown Retires
Prior to Lee Leiber being named police chief in 2016, a civilian position was considered the township's top cop.

MOORESTOWN — Lee Leiber, Moorestown’s police chief, retired at end of day Thursday after more than 40 years with the police department.
“Lieber was first hired on Aug. 18, 1978,” Moorestown Township Manager Kevin Aberant, said at the council meeting on March 28. “This means he has been with the township for portions of six decades.”
Lieber was also the township’s first K-9 officer and worked his way up through the ranks to become the township’s first-ever police chief on Jan. 1, 2016, he said.

Before that the township had a director of public safety of position, which Aberant said was considered a civilian position, not a sworn law enforcement officer position.
Leiber “has performed admirably and effectively,” Aberant said. “So we are sad to see him go.”
