Moorestown School Board To Meet For First Time Since Reopening

The Moorestown Board of Education will meet on Tuesday night for the first time since the 2020-21 school year began.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — On Tuesday night, the Moorestown Public School District will hold its first meeting since the beginning of the new school year. It begins at 6 p.m., but will immediately go into closed session. The public portion of the meeting begins at 7 p.m., and residents will be able to attend and participate virtually.

Policies related to the district’s restart plan will be discussed during the meeting. This includes a second reading for the overall restart and recovery plan, remote learning options for families and the Federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

The overall plan was approved at the August meeting, but the appendices were edited after the district altered its plan when Gov. Phil Murphy limited indoor gatherings to 25 people. Read more here: Moorestown Schools Reopening Plan Altered By NJ Gathering Limit

When the school district altered its plan, it stuck with a mix of in-person and remote instruction, but students are only in class in person for half the day before going home for lunch and finishing the day remotely. The district’s 100 percent full-remote option remains in effect. Read more here: Moorestown School Reopen Plan Includes In-Person, Remote Learning

One of the policies set for first reading Tuesday night centers on full-time remote instruction. There will also be discussions about the heat participation policy for student athletes, student assessment, and the eligibility of resident and non-resident students.

Students returned to school last week, and although there were difficulties, parents who spoke with Patch were happy about the way things were going. Read more here: Moorestown Parents Positive About Back To School Experience
