Moorestown Students Recognized, Administrators Appointed This Month

Wondering what happened in the Moorestown School District in May? Board of Education Member Brandon Pugh provides the latest updates in his monthly column.

The school year may be just weeks away from ending, but during May, within the school district and on the Board of Education, many important and exciting actions were considered and acted upon.

The board had the pleasure of recognizing students and staff for their incredible achievements. Eleven staff members were presented with awards, recognizing retirement and many years of service to the school district. Also, more than two dozen students from multiple schools were recognized for outstanding accomplishments in a variety of areas including leadership, academic success and musical talent. I would like to personally congratulate each person who was recognized!

The board voted unanimously to accept the superintendent’s appointment of Matt Keith as principal of William Allen Middle School and Don Williams as assistant principal at Moorestown High School. Both of these individuals have been serving in an interim capacity for several months, and they are a great addition to the district.

The board also discussed bids for after-hours janitorial services at the middle school. The current contract for janitorial services ends June 30. Depending on the direction taken for these services, it could result in additional custodians being supplied by the private provider. A special board meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 3 to discuss this. I encourage you to come out and voice your opinion.
